Zach Marks

2008: Reinhardt College

Baseball - Mon, Jul. 7, 2008
WALESKA, Ga. -- Zach Marks, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound catcher originally from Louisville, Ky., has signed an athletic letter-of-intent to attend Reinhardt College in the fall and play baseball for the Eagles under head coach Bill Popp. Marks will come to Reinhardt from South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga., where he played for head coach Jamie Corr.

"Zach brings more experience to the catching position and should make an impact for the Eagles early in his career," Popp said. "We are excited Zach chose Reinhardt."

Marks, the son of Richard and Margaret Marks, hit .278 with a .409 on-base percentage last season at South Forsyth. As a catcher, he did not allow a passed ball or stolen base last year as the War Eagles finished 17-14-1 overall, advancing to the second round of the class AAAAA state playoffs with a first-round upset of highly-ranked Harrison High School.

"You are going to love having him," Corr said. "Zach is a terrific young man who did an outstanding job for us last year as a catcher and designated hitter."

"I've been up here before playing and I heard it's a good school," Marks said. "I came up, did the tour and met the coaches and thought it was a pretty good place to go - perfect for me, at least."
