The South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity's Grant Pearce comes through in the clutch, upends Buford HS, 8-6 

Grant Pearce drove in the go-ahead run to give the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity the lead in the sixth inning, as the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity hung on to beat Buford HS 8-6 on Monday. 

After Bradley Prince, Jr. walked, Pearce came to the plate with one out in the sixth and doubled, scoring Prince, Jr. and Ben Ferrer. 

Max Schmal reached base two times in the game for the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning. 

PJ Szeczesny got the win for the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity. He pitched one-third shutout innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits. 

Justin Glover ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed no runs. 

Buford HS jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Buford HS' rally started when Brandon Marsh singled. A groundout by Nick Wilhite then moved Marsh from second to third. Buford HS added more runs when Wilhite scored on a two-run home run by Griffin Jolliff. 

The South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity pushed one run across in each of the first, second and fourth. In the first, the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity scored on a solo home run by Schmal. 

A key sixth-inning rally gave the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity the lead for good. the South Forsyth War Eagles Varsity tacked on a total of five runs on A two-run double by Alex Kliphouse.
